Because it includes all this stuff, the Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 is pretty bulky but weight is not a problem as the bottom part is made from a cushion material that make sure putting it on your lap will feel like having a pillow over your legs. The plane top surface is good for laptops up to 16 inch. Of course you could use a bigger laptop but that will be also heavier and will hang over your Speaker Lapdesk N700 edges but if you’re fine with that then there’s no problem here.

The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700 in perspective

The power for the two 2 Watt speakers and 6 CFM cooling fan with automatic control comes from an USB port. You don’t have to install any software to use Logitech’s Speaker Lapdesk N700 plus you have independent controls for speaker volume (including mute)  and a fan on/off button. Also a red LED informs you when the speakers are muted. The upper edge of the pad is risen 10 degrees from the horizontal to make sure your screen sits higher than usual and your hands are straight when in contact with the keyboard (see here more info about how you should use a laptop stand ).

Update: Gizmodo had the chance to test the N700 Lapdesk and draw the conclusion that the stand is very comfortable to use even if its design isn’t too modern but they only had issues with the sound quality that seems to lack in bass levels, but that’s to be expected from an USB bus powered device.

PS. If they already give away free laptops with mobile phones it might be a good idea to get free laptop stands when you buy a new notebook.
