How far can the electronic revolution go: A weird thought

With the electronic industry coming up with new technologies day in and day out and a rapidly increasing user base, it might not be far that a 6-7 year child owns his own laptop and mobile phones as if it were some toy car. The point here I am talking about is not about the increasing dependency of electronic gadgets by the humans, but about the overwhelming decrease in cost of these gadgets. The people in the electronic industry may not actually like this, but what they have been doing is digging in their own graves by trying to be extremely competitive. Humans are actually said to be reluctant to change, but the extreme progress we see in the present day technology is because of the fear that others would over take them. This in fact capitalism is all about and why it has been so effective in bringing on drastic changes on the lifestyle of man.

However why are these things not happening for more essentials such as food. Mobiles which were costing 200 dollars a years ago are now costing around 120$ and laptops costing 600 dollars are now available for 400 dollars. So that is a 35-40% decrease in cost. Whereas food commodities have increased by the same rate in several parts of the world over the year. One reason for this is the decrease in agri based research. Perhaps the most important thing is that the green revolution techniques which were responsible for the increased food production has actually reached the threshold. The point here to be noted is that, the same might be in wait for the electronic industry as well. The Moore’s law might actually come to a stand still due to the nature of the subatomic particles.

And then with the increasing dependency of these gadgets by humans and the decrease in fear of competition for the industry giants would actually mean a increase in price of these gadgets. So laptops under 600 dollars in 2020 could cost 800 dollars the next year. The genetic modification is expected to bring in a change in the food productivity, what will the electronic industry look up to.
