ThermaPAK Heatshift promises fanless cooling for your laptop
As you might understand the term laptop cooling stand it’s about something that uses a fan (or a pair of fans) to cool down your laptop while working. Not in the case of ThermaPAK Heatshift, an ingenious product that uses special designed PCM crystals that at room temperature are solid but once heated by your laptop through direct contact they turn onto liquid form and absorb the heat thus cooling down the notebook, increasing component life and so on, you know all those things already.
It’s clear what advantages ThermaPAK brings to the table: silent operation, no power consumption and efficient cooling (think watercoolers versus fan coolers in modern PCs). The question that you might want to ask is: will it really work or it’s just marketing talk behind ThermaPAK statements? Well, I’m happy to report that Slashgear managed to test it and the conclusion is that it really works, managing to cool down a MacBook Pro running HD videos in just two minutes. Also it is very comfortable to use on your lap thanks to the foam layer on the bottom, but remember that you can always use it on a desk just like a regular laptop desk stand.

Now, about ergonomics, there are a lot of sizes to choose from: 10, 13, 15 and 17 inch but you can always go the safe way and get the bigger one if you don’t mind the ThermaPAK Heatshift bulging out of your laptop’s base. As color choice you can pick the black, white or pink version. Not too varied but also not too limiting choice. Even if we’re talking about an innovative technology I’m happy to report that it is not very expensive and that’s always a good thing, as a premium product will always appeal to less consumers than a mainstream one.
